Etihad Airways has announced a significant expansion of its U.S. network in response to growing travel demand between the United Arab Emirates and North America. The carrier will increase its U.S. operations by 42% effective.
Currently operating five daily services from its Abu Dhabi hub to the United States, Etihad will raise this number to seven daily flights under the new schedule. The capacity increase is aimed at strengthening connectivity between the UAE and the U.S., while also reinforcing the airline’s presence in the North American market.
As part of the expansion, Etihad Airways will launch service to new destinations in North America while also increasing frequencies on existing routes. Under the new plan, the airline will add Charlotte and Atlanta to its U.S. network. In addition, Chicago services will increase from one daily flight to two daily flights.
One of the newly announced routes will connect Abu Dhabi with Charlotte Douglas International Airport (KCLT), with the airline operating three weekly flights. Located in North Carolina, Charlotte serves as a major hub with strong domestic and international connectivity. The route will be operated using the Airbus A350-1000.
Etihad’s other new U.S. destination will be Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), widely recognized as one of the busiest airports in the world. Services to Atlanta will be operated on a daily basis, also with the Airbus A350-1000.
The expansion is expected to further enhance not only direct travel demand between the U.S. and the UAE, but also onward connectivity to South Asia through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub.
