Repeated Toilet Malfunction on Orion Aircraft

According to a statement from Mission Control in Houston as part of the Artemis II mission, a system malfunction led to the toilet being operated in a limited mode, allowing only solid waste usage. During this period, stored waste was permitted to be vented into space.

The malfunction in the Orion spacecraft’s toilet system is expected to be fully resolved within approximately two hours.

It was noted that the system has experienced intermittent outages but is expected to return to full functionality shortly. Meanwhile, the crew continues to rely on temporary urine collection systems for liquid waste needs.
