New details have emerged regarding the condition of Solange Tremblay, the Air Canada Express flight attendant who was seriously injured in the fatal accident at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on March 22. Her daughter, Sarah Lepine, stated that her mother survived the crash but is undergoing a long and difficult recovery due to severe injuries.
According to the information shared, Tremblay sustained open fractures in both legs, requiring multiple surgeries. She also suffered a spinal fracture, with infection risk identified as one of the primary concerns. Her treatment is ongoing in New York.
Tremblay was working aboard flight 8646, operated by Jazz Aviation on behalf of Air Canada Express. She was reportedly found alive on the runway still secured to her jump seat after the collision. Experts suggest that the survival may be partly attributed to the design of cabin crew seats, which are built to withstand high-impact forces.
The accident occurred on March 22, when a CRJ900 regional jet collided with an ARFF vehicle during landing on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport. Two pilots lost their lives, while multiple passengers and emergency personnel were also injured. The investigation is being led by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
