Oil Prices Surge Overnight

Oil Prices Surge Overnight | Jet Fuel Costs Could Also Be Affected
Rising tensions in the Middle East and growing uncertainty in global markets have triggered a sharp increase in oil prices. Brent crude climbed nearly 25 percent in a short period, approaching the $120 level, marking one of the fastest increases in energy markets in recent years.
The surge in oil prices is particularly significant for the aviation sector. Jet fuel, one of the largest operating expenses for airlines, is directly linked to crude oil prices.
According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), approximately 25 to 30 percent of Europe’s jet fuel supply comes from the Persian Gulf region. Any disruption in energy flows from the region could therefore lead to a rapid increase in jet fuel prices.
If the upward trend continues, rising fuel costs could significantly impact airline operating expenses and may eventually be reflected in areas such as airfares.
