TSA & Global Entry Suspended

TSA PreCheck and Global Entry Programs Suspended in the U.S.

The United States Department of Homeland Security has temporarily suspended the TSA PreCheck and Global Entry programs due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown.

These programs allowed pre-approved travelers to move more quickly through security screening and passport control procedures. The suspension is expected to result in longer waiting times at airports, particularly during peak travel periods.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that government shutdowns have direct operational consequences. In a statement, it was noted that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are prioritizing overall passenger flow, and expedited screening programs have therefore been temporarily paused.

The partial government shutdown began on February 14 after Democrats and the White House failed to reach an agreement on funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Democrats have been seeking changes to immigration policies under President Donald Trump.

Democratic members of the House Homeland Security Committee criticized the decision, arguing that it disables programs designed to make travel smoother and safer.
