Saudi-based low-cost carrier Flynas is preparing to expand its activities in the Syrian market. An agreement has been signed between the company and the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority to establish a new economy-class airline in Syria.
Under the initiative, the new airline is planned to operate under the name “Flynas Syria.” The ownership structure will be shared between Flynas and the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, and operations are targeted to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
According to officials, Flynas became the first Saudi-based airline to return to Syria. The company resumed flights to Syria as of June 2025, and Flyadeal also entered the market in October 2025. Saudi Arabian Airlines is also expected to restart flights to Syria in the coming period.
It was reported that throughout 2025, Flynas operated a total of 1,650 flights to Syria, carrying around 180,000 passengers. The newly established airline aims to directly connect Syria with various destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Meanwhile, investments from Saudi Arabia are also being directed toward Syria’s aviation infrastructure. Plans are on the agenda to increase the current capacity of Aleppo Airport and, in the long term, to build a new airport with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers. These investments are expected to contribute to the region’s tourism and trade potential.
