Boeing Overtakes Airbus in Aircraft Orders in 2025 After Seven Years

American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has returned to the top of the industry in terms of orders in 2025 after a long period marked by production disruptions and crises. The company surpassed its rival Airbus for the first time in seven years.
Throughout 2025, Boeing received a total of 1,173 net aircraft orders. Airbus recorded 889 net orders in the same period. Thus, Boeing topped the annual order rankings for the first time since 2018.
Large-scale deals announced alongside intergovernmental trade contacts played a major role in the increase in orders. In this context, Qatar Airways’ order for 160 aircraft—Boeing’s largest order in its history—stood out. The deal, valued at $200 billion, was announced to the public during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East.
On the delivery side, Boeing also showed signs of recovery. The company delivered a total of 600 aircraft in 2025, reaching its highest annual delivery level since 2018. However, it still trailed Airbus, which delivered 793 aircraft.
Boeing’s momentum in 2025 carried into 2026 as well. The company recently announced a new order for 110 aircraft from Alaska Airlines, marking the largest aircraft order in Alaska Airlines’ history. In addition, Delta Air Lines announced an order for 30 firm and 30 optional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with deliveries planned to begin in the early 2030s.
