Maduro Regime Cancels Flight Permissions of Six International Carriers Including Turkish Airlines

According to Reuters, the Venezuelan government has permanently revoked flight permissions previously granted to six airlines — Iberia, TAP Portugal, Avianca, Latam, Turkish Airlines, and GOL. The decision was formalized after the deadline for the airlines to resume flights to Venezuela expired.
The official decree was published on Wednesday, accusing the airlines of “failing to comply with the state’s security policies.” Caracas claims that the airlines’ decision to halt flights came in response to a NOTAM issued by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warning about security risks over Venezuelan airspace.
The airlines had suspended their Venezuela operations following the FAA’s safety alert. The Venezuelan government views their compliance with the FAA’s recommendation as “a hostile act aligned with foreign interests.”
