Qatar Airways Faces $5 Million Lawsuit

An incident onboard a Qatar Airways flight from Washington to Doha has led to a $5 million lawsuit against the airline. A U.S. passenger claims that her three-year-old daughter went into an anaphylactic shock after a flight attendant gave her a KitKat, despite the child having severe milk and nut allergies.
The mother states that she informed the cabin crew about her daughter’s allergies both before the flight and again during boarding. She says that despite these warnings, a crew member handed the child a chocolate bar. When she returned from the lavatory, she saw her daughter eating it and had to administer an EpiPen. Reports indicate that the girl later suffered a second reaction during the layover and was taken to a hospital.
The family has filed the lawsuit in federal court in Virginia under the Montreal Convention. Although the convention’s compensation cap is around $170,000, the family is seeking $5 million due to the physical and emotional harm caused.
The complaint also alleges that the cabin crew failed to make an emergency announcement and did not coordinate with ground staff for medical assistance.
