International Airlines Group (IAG) — the parent company of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, and LEVEL — has signed a partnership agreement to install Starlink satellite internet systems across more than 500 aircraft in its fleet. The project is set to begin in 2026 and will cover both short-haul and long-haul flights.
The new system will deliver home-level internet speeds, offering download rates between 150–450 Mbps and upload speeds up to 70 Mbps. Thanks to its low latency, passengers will be able to stream videos seamlessly, play online games, and work on cloud-based applications during flights.
IAG CEO Luis Gallego said that integrating Starlink will “revolutionize the passenger experience”, adding that the group aims to provide fast and stable connectivity across all active aircraft in its fleet.
This initiative is part of IAG’s digital transformation strategy. The group is also leveraging artificial intelligence to predict engine failures in advance and invests in aviation startups through its IAGi venture fund.
Once fully implemented, IAG will become Europe’s largest airline group in terms of in-flight high-speed internet coverage.
