LATAM Orders Up to 74 Embraer E195-E2 Aircraft

South America’s largest airline group, LATAM Airlines, has announced an agreement for a total of 74 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, comprising 24 firm orders and 50 options. The total catalog value of the order is estimated at approximately $2.1 billion. Initial deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with the aircraft first entering service at the group’s Brazilian subsidiary. Production delays and delivery schedules at Airbus and Boeing influenced the decision.
The E195-E2, offering a single-class seating configuration for up to 146 passengers, stands out for its low fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions. LATAM aims to use these aircraft to expand regional routes and improve access to smaller destinations. The company estimates that the E2 fleet could open 35 new points and further enhance its existing network of 160 destinations.
Currently, LATAM operates a fleet of 362 Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Integrating Embraer jets marks a shift toward a more flexible fleet structure for the airline’s operations.
This move is also strategically important for Embraer. Previously, the E2 series had only been used by Azul, and now it enters the fleet of another major South American carrier, LATAM. For a company long focused on an Airbus-centric fleet strategy, this step signals the start of a new era alongside the expansion of its regional flight network.
