Cyberattack Crisis at European Airports

A large-scale cyberattack has caused major disruptions at several major airports across Europe. London Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin were among the airports affected, with delays and cancellations reported. Passengers were warned of potentially long waiting times.
The attack targeted Collins Aerospace, a company that provides check-in and boarding systems to airlines worldwide. Due to the outage, staff at affected airports had to switch to manual processing, significantly slowing down passenger procedures. In a statement, Heathrow Airport confirmed that the technical issue experienced by Collins Aerospace could lead to delays in departures at multiple airports.
Meanwhile, Eurocontrol, Europe’s air navigation safety authority, announced additional measures for flights from Brussels Airport. Airlines were urged to cancel half of their scheduled flights between 04:00 GMT on Saturday, September 20, and 02:00 GMT on Sunday, September 21.
