The rivalry between the world’s most popular narrow-body passenger aircraft is reaching a new milestone. Analytics company Cirium predicts that Airbus, the Europe-based manufacturer, will soon see its A320 family surpass Boeing’s 737 series in total deliveries.
➡️ According to Cirium data, as of early August 2025, Airbus has delivered 12,153 A320 family aircraft to customers since its first 100 deliveries to Air France in 1988. Boeing, on the other hand, has delivered 12,175 aircraft from its 737 series since its first 100 deliveries to Lufthansa in 1967.
Max Kingsley-Jones, Head of Consultancy at Cirium, stated that the current pace of production and deliveries will soon tip the balance, saying: “At current delivery rates, these numbers are about to intersect. The A320 family could surpass the 737 within the next month.”
➡️ This will mark a new chapter in the Boeing-Airbus rivalry that has shaped the narrow-body passenger jet market since the 1980s.
