Norse Atlantic to Lease Two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Pakistan International Airlines

Norwegian carrier Norse Atlantic Airways has signed an agreement with Pakistan’s flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), to lease two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Operations under the ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) agreement are scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Facing rising jet fuel costs, Norse Atlantic has been scaling back its low-cost transatlantic services while increasing its focus on ACMI operations. The agreement with PIA comes after India’s IndiGo announced in July that it would terminate its wet-lease arrangement with Norse Atlantic, making the new deal an important step in maintaining the Norwegian carrier’s ACMI operations.
Operating a fleet of 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Norse Atlantic aims to reduce its financial exposure to fluctuations in passenger demand and fuel prices through long-term ACMI agreements. The airline is also continuing discussions with other carriers regarding potential leasing contracts. Meanwhile, in July, Norse Atlantic initiated a formal process to explore a possible sale or merger.
