Emirates Carries More Than 8.6 Million Passengers During Summer Period

Emirates carried more than 8.6 million passengers during July and August, according to figures released by the airline. More than 500,000 children travelled on Emirates flights during the period, while total passenger numbers increased by 7% compared with the same period last year.

Emirates also said its fleet has grown by 18 aircraft since January, with 11 Airbus A350s and seven Boeing 777 freighters joining the fleet. A further six A350s are scheduled for delivery by the end of the year. Under the airline’s cabin retrofit programme, work has been completed on 104 aircraft, comprising 53 Boeing 777s and 51 Airbus A380s. The number of aircraft offering Premium Economy and refreshed cabin products has reached 137.

Emirates plans to add additional capacity to 11 more cities by the end of the year, while Helsinki is also expected to join its network. The airline said next-generation seats and cabin products have now been introduced on 50 aircraft.
