Fuel Supply Pressure Hits Russian Aviation: Restrictions at 26 Airports

Russia’s aviation sector is facing growing pressure due to jet fuel supply shortages, with restrictions on the amount of fuel supplied to aircraft introduced at 26 airports across the country.

The restrictions reportedly include airports in Sochi, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Krasnodar and St. Petersburg Pulkovo. At 15 of the affected airports, foreign airlines are reportedly being allowed to refuel only with enough fuel to operate a single flight.

The supply problems come amid difficulties affecting refinery production and fuel availability in Russia, while jet fuel prices have also reportedly risen to high levels.
