Threat to Take Over the Aircraft on Alaska Airlines Flight: Cockpit Locked Down
An Alaska Airlines aircraft operating the Miami–Seattle route returned to its parking position after the pilots locked down the cockpit, following a reported threat to “take over the aircraft” made to the cabin crew during taxi.
On flight #AS305, a passenger reportedly threatened a flight attendant that they would seize control of the aircraft. The pilots shut down the engines, set the parking brake and initiated the lockdown protocol. In radio recordings published by Enhanced Radar, the pilot can be heard informing air traffic units that the cabin crew had received threats.
The aircraft returned to the gate and passengers were temporarily deplaned. Two individuals reported for “disruptive behaviour” were taken into custody by police, after which the flight departed for Seattle with a delay.
The airline confirmed that two passengers were removed from the aircraft and temporarily banned from flying with the carrier. Police stated that no credible threat was identified in the incident, and the two individuals taken into custody were rebooked on another flight.
