Suspected Drugs Found Inside Passenger’s Computer at U.S. Airport

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered suspected illegal drugs concealed inside an Apple Mac mini computer in a passenger’s carry-on baggage at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the United States. The discovery led to the passenger being detained by police.
During security screening, a TSA officer operating the X-ray machine noticed an unusual mass and wiring configuration inside the computer, prompting a detailed inspection of the bag. Officers discovered that the computer had been modified to conceal plastic-wrapped substances. An explosives specialist subsequently identified a crystalline substance and an orange, pill-like object.
Phoenix police were called to the scene, and preliminary field tests indicated the possible presence of fentanyl, methamphetamine and ketamine. The passenger was detained, and further examination of the suspected substances was initiated.
TSA officials emphasised that the primary purpose of airport security screening is to detect weapons, explosives and other threats to aviation security. However, when suspected illegal drugs are discovered during screening, law enforcement authorities are notified.
