Saudia Denies Claims of Boeing 777 Sale to Iran

Saudi Arabian flag carrier Saudia has denied claims that it directly sold its retired Boeing 777-200ER aircraft to Iran.

The airline stated that the aircraft were sold on June 7, 2023, to a company registered outside Saudi Arabia and that it has had no commercial or operational ties to the aircraft following the sale.

The statement came after reports claimed that at least five former Saudia Boeing 777 aircraft had arrived in Iran and could be prepared for service with Mahan Air.

Saudia described the transaction as a standard commercial sale, but did not disclose details regarding the buyer company or the aircraft registrations.
