The charter flight assigned to transport the Saudi Arabian national football team back home is expected to operate with only a limited number of passengers.
A Gulf Air Boeing 787-9, registered A9C-FJ, departed Bahrain and is en route to Austin, Texas, where it will pick up the remaining members of the Saudi delegation before operating a nonstop flight to Riyadh.
Following the team’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup, several players reportedly left the training camp on individual leave and returned home via separate itineraries.
As a result, only a limited number of players and coaching staff are expected to be on board the Austin–Riyadh flight.
