Pegasus and AirAsia X Sign Codeshare Agreement
Pegasus Airlines and AirAsia X have signed a codeshare agreement covering the Kuala Lumpur–Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen route. The partnership, which marks the first codeshare agreement in AirAsia’s history, went on sale on 2 September. Through the agreement, Pegasus’ network is connected to Southeast Asia via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen for the first time.
Pegasus passengers will be able to book AirAsia X-operated nonstop flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Kuala Lumpur through Pegasus’ sales channels. Passengers travelling from Pegasus destinations in Türkiye and abroad will also be able to connect to Kuala Lumpur via Istanbul, with check-in and baggage handling provided through to their final destination.
AirAsia X has been operating the route four times a week since November 2025, with daily services planned from February 2027. The two airlines also aim to expand the partnership to additional destinations, using Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Kuala Lumpur as connecting hubs.
Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk said Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen serves as a natural connecting point between Europe and Asia, adding that the agreement brings the two continents closer together. AirAsia Group CEO Bo Lingam said Pegasus’ network of 161 destinations across 57 countries would make Europe more accessible to AirAsia passengers, while providing European travellers with new connections across the ASEAN region and beyond.
