flydubai and Air Arabia Make Limited Return to Iranian Airspace
flydubai and Air Arabia have resumed using Iranian airspace on selected flights amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Following its own safety assessment, flydubai is operating a limited number of Dubai–Baku services through an eastern Iranian air corridor, while Air Arabia is using the same route for some Sharjah–Baku flights.
The corridor passes through eastern Iran, close to the country’s borders with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan, and remains away from areas where current military activity is concentrated. The move does not represent a full return to Iranian airspace and applies only to selected flights.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), meanwhile, continues to recommend that European operators avoid the Tehran Flight Information Region at all altitudes. The current risk assessment is expected to be reviewed again on August 31.
flydubai said developments in the region are being closely monitored and flight plans are continuously reassessed.
