Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has taken delivery of its first next-generation Airbus A321neo as part of its ongoing fleet modernization program. The aircraft was handed over at Airbus’ Hamburg facility on June 25, 2026.
With the addition of the new aircraft, AZAL’s narrow-body Airbus fleet now consists of the A319ceo, A320ceo, A320neo, and A321neo. The airline plans to use the A321neo to increase capacity on high-demand routes, improve operational efficiency, and expand its route network.
Configured with 191 seats, the aircraft features Airbus’ Airspace cabin, customizable ambient lighting, larger overhead bins, a next-generation inflight entertainment system, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The A321neo offers a range of up to 7,400 kilometers while reducing fuel burn and carbon emissions per seat by approximately 20 percent compared to previous-generation aircraft.
As part of its long-term growth strategy, AZAL aims to expand its fleet to 50 aircraft by 2032. The airline expects to receive several additional aircraft before the end of 2026, bringing the total number of new deliveries this year to eight, marking the largest annual fleet renewal in the airline’s history.
