Air Canada Captain Craig Anderson completed the final flight of his nearly 40-year career alongside his family. On the Rome-Toronto service, Anderson was joined in the cockpit by his sons Matthew and Taylor, both Air Canada pilots, while his wife Brenda, an Air Canada flight attendant, served as part of the cabin crew.
The Anderson family’s aviation history spans three generations. Craig Anderson’s father, Gary, also spent 40 years as an Air Canada pilot. In 1991, Craig served as first officer alongside his father on Gary’s retirement flight from London to Toronto. Thirty-five years later, the tradition was repeated, this time with Craig’s own sons joining him in the cockpit for his final flight.
Anderson began his career in 1987 and accumulated more than 30,000 flight hours. His third son, Curtis, is also a pilot and currently flies for Porter Airlines. Curtis travelled as a passenger on his father’s final flight and documented the journey, while Anderson was welcomed by family and friends upon arrival in Toronto.
