Cyberattack on UK Airports: Data of 8.7 Million Passengers Compromised

A cyberattack targeting Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the operator of Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports in the UK, has resulted in unauthorized access to the personal data of approximately 8.7 million customers.
The breach reportedly involved email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registration details and postcodes contained in airport Wi-Fi records as well as parking, lounge and fast-track service bookings.
MAG stated that it identified the incident and took steps to contain the risk, while cooperating with the relevant authorities. The company also emphasized that banking and payment information was not affected by the cyberattack.
The company further stated that the incident did not compromise passenger safety or aviation security, and that operations at all three airports continued as normal.
Passengers who may have been affected have been advised to remain vigilant against suspicious emails, phone calls and messages appearing to come from legitimate sources. They were particularly warned to be cautious of any communication requesting payment or banking information.
