South Korean low-cost carriers Jin Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul will merge under the Jin Air brand. The merger, approved by the boards of all three companies on August 21, is expected to be completed on March 17, 2027, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Following the merger, Jin Air’s fleet will grow to 58 aircraft, making it South Korea’s largest low-cost carrier by fleet size. The assets, liabilities and employees of Air Busan and Air Seoul will also be transferred to Jin Air.
The consolidation of Korean Air subsidiary Jin Air with Asiana Airlines subsidiaries Air Busan and Air Seoul represents the next stage of the Korean Air–Asiana Airlines integration. As part of the process, route networks, reservation systems and schedules will be gradually combined, while the merged airline will also obtain a single Air Operator Certificate.
