easyJet to Be Acquired by U.S.-Based Apollo for £5.7 Billion

UK-based low-cost carrier easyJet has accepted a £5.7 billion ($7.7 billion) takeover offer from U.S. private equity firm Apollo Global Management.
Under the agreement, Apollo will pay £7.15 per easyJet share. The deal brings an end to an earlier bid from Castlelake, while easyJet’s management and founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou have also expressed their support for the transaction.
Following completion of the acquisition, easyJet is expected to be delisted from the London Stock Exchange. Apollo said it plans to continue working with the airline’s existing management team and support its growth strategy.
The transaction will be structured to comply with European Union airline ownership rules and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
