SWISS removed two pilots from duty before a scheduled flight from Geneva after they were found to be under the influence of alcohol. The airline confirmed that both pilots have been temporarily suspended from flying duties while an internal investigation is underway.
According to aerotelegraph, the pilots consumed alcohol together at the crew hotel in Geneva on the evening before the incident in May 2026. The following morning, they were scheduled to operate a SWISS Airbus A220 flight to a European destination. Other crew members became concerned about their condition and alerted the relevant authorities.
Following the required checks, the two pilots were deemed unfit for flight duty and were removed from the roster before reporting for the flight. Replacement pilots were assigned, allowing the flight to operate as scheduled.
The two pilots will remain suspended from flight duties until further notice while the airline continues its investigation into the incident.
