Hawaiian Airlines to Retire Boeing 717 Fleet

Alaska Air Group has announced that Hawaiian Airlines will begin replacing its Boeing 717 fleet with Boeing 737-800 aircraft starting in 2028 for interisland operations in Hawaii.

The airline’s 19 Boeing 717s, which have served for nearly 25 years, will be retired and replaced by higher-capacity Boeing 737-800s to help meet growing demand on interisland routes.

Alaska Air Group also announced plans to expand its cargo operations by adding four Boeing 737-800BCF freighters under long-term lease, increasing its cargo fleet to nine aircraft by 2028.
