Philippine Airlines Plans to Acquire Up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners
Boeing and Philippine Airlines announced a commitment on the opening day of the 2026 Farnborough Airshow for what is expected to become the largest widebody aircraft deal in the Philippine carrier’s history.
Under the agreement, Philippine Airlines plans to place an order for 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with options for an additional five aircraft. Once the firm contract is signed, the aircraft will be used to modernise the fleet and support the expansion of the airline’s international network.
PAL Holdings President and Chief Operating Officer Lucio C. Tan III said the investment would strengthen the carrier’s medium- and long-haul fleet, improve the passenger experience, increase operational efficiency, and support the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
The new 787-10s will complement Philippine Airlines’ existing fleet of 10 Boeing 777s, giving the airline greater flexibility in managing capacity across medium- and long-haul routes.
The 787-10 is the largest member of the Dreamliner family and can carry up to 375 passengers in a single-class configuration, with a range of approximately 13,890 kilometres.
