Seaplane Makes Hard Landing on New York’s East River

A Kodiak 100 seaplane made a hard landing on New York’s East River around midday on Sunday.

Eight people on board, including two pilots, were rescued from the aircraft. Two passengers reportedly sustained minor injuries.

New York Fire Department crews evacuated the passengers, and the aircraft was later towed to a pier. Initial reports indicate that one of the aircraft’s wing strut attachments broke during the hard landing.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it will launch an investigation into the incident.
