Turkish Airlines recently became a minority shareholder in Air Europa, which has announced the appointment of Richard Clark as its new Chief Executive Officer. Clark succeeds Jesús Nuño de la Rosa and will lead the airline into a new strategic phase.
The move is seen as a key step following Air Europa’s repayment of its SEPI loan and the reshaping of its shareholder structure. In a statement, the company emphasized that the change reflects Globalia’s commitment to “growth through internal talent.” Clark’s priorities include strengthening capacity at the Madrid Barajas hub and further consolidating the airline’s position in the transatlantic market.
Clark joined Air Europa in 1987 and has built a career spanning nearly four decades, holding senior roles across strategic units, leading operational transformation projects, and playing a pivotal role in enhancing Europe–Americas connectivity.
Upon his appointment, Clark said the CEO role is “not only a responsibility but an important opportunity to shape Air Europa’s future.” He thanked the leadership for its trust and aims to accelerate the company’s international growth in the new period.
With this transition, Air Europa seeks to leverage the strategic strength of its partnership with Turkish Airlines to make the Madrid hub more competitive and reinforce its presence on transatlantic routes.
