JetBlue Raises Baggage Fees Again: Charges Reach Up to $70

US-based airline JetBlue Airways has increased its checked baggage fees for the second time in 2026, citing rising fuel and operating costs. Under the new pricing structure, which took effect on November 3, economy class passengers will pay between $50 and $70 for their first checked bag.

Under the revised policy, passengers who purchase their first checked bag at least 24 hours before departure will pay $50 during off-peak periods and $55 during peak travel periods. Those who add a checked bag less than 24 hours before departure will be charged $60 during off-peak periods and $70 during peak periods. Fees for a second checked bag will range from $70 to $85.

Earlier this year, JetBlue’s first checked bag fees started at $35. Following the latest increase, the starting price has risen to $50. The airline stated that the adjustments are intended to offset rising fuel and operating costs while keeping base fares competitive.

Meanwhile, JetBlue Plus, JetBlue Business, and JetBlue Premier credit cardholders, along with eligible loyalty program members, will continue to receive complimentary checked baggage benefits. The new fees apply to tickets purchased on or after November 3, 2026.
