Peanut Allergy on a SunExpress Flight
A child passenger on a SunExpress flight from London to Dalaman was known to be allergic to peanuts. The child’s parents asked the cabin and cockpit crew to make an announcement, asking passengers not to eat peanuts during the flight due to their child’s special condition.
However, the crew refused to make an announcement, saying that such a situation was against company policy. Upon this situation, the family preferred to talk to the passengers one by one. Meanwhile, the cabin crew approached the family and told them to get off the plane.
The family was removed from the plane by the crew, even though they said they had done nothing wrong. Natasha Allergy Research Foundation made a statement after the incident, saying that SunExpress’ practice was shocking and unacceptable.
A SunExpress Airlines official said that they could not guarantee an allergen-free environment on their flights and that they decided that it was safest for the family not to travel on the flight.
