Suicide Attack Planned Aboard Flydubai Aircraft

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Public Prosecution has announced that an Omani first officer who attacked the captain during a Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, had planned to carry out a suicide attack targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.

In a statement, UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said the first officer had been inspired by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States and intended to carry out a similar attack.

The Public Prosecution stated that the suspect had planned the attack alone and that no other individuals were involved.
