Iranian Caspian Airlines Aircraft Released from Seizure, Departs for Tehran

A Boeing 737-500 operated by Iranian carrier Caspian Airlines, registered EP-KPB, has departed Istanbul Airport for Tehran after the seizure order imposed on the aircraft was lifted.

As HavaSosyalMedya reported yesterday, the Istanbul 8th Enforcement Court had upheld the airline’s complaint regarding improper service of legal notice, paving the way for the aircraft’s release.

The aircraft had been prevented from departing Istanbul Airport on September 28 after a seizure was imposed while it was preparing for a flight to Iran. Passengers had already boarded the aircraft but were subsequently returned to the terminal.

The court determined that Caspian Airlines had no registered headquarters or branch in Türkiye and that the payment order had been served at an address used by another debtor. It therefore ruled that the notification was improper and corrected the official notification date to September 28, 2026, when the airline became aware of the enforcement proceedings.

Following the court’s October 7 ruling and the subsequent lifting of the seizure, the aircraft has now taken off for Tehran.
