Airbus’ new-generation A350F freighter has taken off from Toulouse, France, for its maiden flight. The departure of the first test aircraft, registered F-WXLD and carrying manufacturer serial number MSN700, marks the start of the A350F flight test campaign.
Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the A350F offers a payload capacity of up to 111 tonnes and a range of up to 8,700 kilometres. Around 400 hours of flight testing with two test aircraft are planned as part of the certification campaign, with certification targeted for 2027.
Airbus has so far secured 115 firm orders for its new freighter.
