U.S. Air Traffic Gets AI Support: FAA Rolls Out SMART System in Washington

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is preparing to begin using SMART, its AI-powered air traffic management tool, as early as today at Reagan National, Dulles and BWI airports in the Washington area.

The cloud-based system aims to identify potential congestion and conflicts in advance by analyzing data such as airline schedules, weather and runway capacity, thereby reducing delays and cancellations.
