The United States and the European Union have reached a significant compromise in their long-standing trade disputes. The parties have signed a preliminary agreement that exempts certain sectors from a 15% customs duty. This exemption covers aviation, the pharmaceutical industry, the chemical sector, semiconductor technologies, certain agricultural products, and critical raw materials.
As part of the agreement, it was decided to apply zero customs tariffs reciprocally on aircraft and aircraft spare parts. This move is expected to ease the pressure on the transatlantic aviation sector.
