Wizz Air Fleet Reaches 250 Aircraft

Hungary-based airline Wizz Air has expanded its fleet to 250 aircraft with the delivery of a new Airbus A321neo. The aircraft features a special commemorative livery designed by a Hungarian artist selected through a public contest. The airline considers this milestone an important step in its European growth strategy.

CEO József Váradi noted that the A321neo gives Wizz Air a strong competitive advantage and stated that the long-term goal is to grow the fleet to 500 aircraft. Váradi also mentioned that the airline initially considered choosing Boeing during its early years but ultimately made the right decision by partnering with Airbus.

Wizz Air continues to keep some aircraft temporarily grounded due to technical issues related to Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. The company expects the number of grounded aircraft to fall below 40 next year, with the issue planned to be fully resolved by 2028. It was also announced that the delivery of 88 Airbus aircraft has been postponed to 2033.
