The Escalation of Tensions Between the U.S. and Venezuela Is Also Affecting Civil Aviation Operations in the Region

The escalating tensions between the United States and Venezuela have begun to impact civil aviation operations in the region.

According to available information, some U.S.-based airlines have suspended part of their flights to certain destinations in the Caribbean due to current security and safety risks. It is stated that the decision was made in line with recent NOTAMs issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and risk assessments related to the region’s airspace.

Destinations affected by the suspended flights include Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, Saint Croix, Saint Thomas, Saint Martin, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Grenada, and Barbados.

Airlines emphasize that the decision is temporary as part of an approach prioritizing passenger and crew safety, noting that flight schedules will be reassessed depending on developments in the region.
