Vehicle Drove Into Detroit Airport Terminal [New Video]

A serious security breach at the McNamara Terminal of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Michigan has drawn widespread public attention. Newly released security camera footage shows the moment a vehicle breached the terminal’s security barriers and drove directly into the ticketing area.

The footage, shared under the Freedom of Information Act, shows a vehicle traveling in the left lane outside the terminal before suddenly accelerating, smashing through the entrance barriers, and crashing into a ticket counter. Employees inside the terminal are seen narrowly escaping the vehicle, avoiding what could have been a major tragedy.

Authorities confirmed that six people sustained minor injuries and that the driver was taken into custody at the scene. The driver, reportedly around 40 years old, remains in custody as the investigation continues. Officials stated that there is no indication of a terrorism-related motive at this stage and that the incident is being treated as a personal and psychological matter.

In response, Detroit Metro Airport has implemented additional security measures. As part of these efforts, concrete barriers weighing approximately 4,000 kg each have been installed along the passenger drop-off and pick-up lanes on both the arrivals and departures levels of the McNamara Terminal.
