Unusual Incident in the Cockpit

During Lufthansa’s Frankfurt–Seville flight, the first officer lost consciousness in the cockpit while the captain was in the lavatory. The aircraft continued flying under autopilot control for approximately 10 minutes.

When the captain tried to return to the cockpit, he was unable to unlock the door despite entering the standard access code five times. A cabin crew member attempted to reach the first officer via the cockpit interphone but received no response. The captain then used the emergency access code to open the cockpit door. Moments before the door unlocked automatically, the first officer partially regained consciousness and opened the door from inside.

Due to the first officer’s condition, the captain decided to divert the aircraft to Madrid, Spain. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
