United Wants a Seat at the Table in Heathrow Expansion Decisions

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has called for airlines to have a voice in decisions surrounding the expansion of London Heathrow Airport. Highlighting the potential impact of multibillion-pound projects—such as the proposed third runway—on passenger fees, Kirby emphasized the need for transparency and efficiency, urging for airline involvement in the airport’s management processes.

United has joined an initiative led by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic advocating for greater airline influence, including the creation of an investment committee and opening terminal operations to third parties. United currently operates seven daily flights from Heathrow to the United States.
