Turkish Technic to Establish One of the World’s Largest Rolls-Royce Engine Maintenance Centers in Istanbul

A leading company in the aircraft maintenance and repair sector, Turkish Technic has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce, a major aircraft engine manufacturer. Under this agreement, a state-of-the-art licensed engine maintenance facility will be established, significantly enhancing Turkish Technic’s engine maintenance capabilities and positioning it at the forefront of the industry. Turkish Technic will become the newest member of Rolls-Royce’s global MRO network, further solidifying its leadership in the aircraft maintenance sector and reinforcing Turkey’s role as a global aviation hub.

The facility, to be located at Istanbul Airport and expected to be completed and operational by 2027, will employ 1,000 people at full capacity and offer maintenance services for up to 200 engines annually, making it the largest engine maintenance center in its region. The center will provide comprehensive maintenance services for the Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines used in Turkish Airlines’ Airbus A350 and A330neo fleets. In addition to supporting Turkish Airlines’ own fleet, the facility will also serve Rolls-Royce’s global airline customers.

The new facility is expected to increase Turkish Technic’s annual revenue by approximately 30%, positioning the company as a pioneer in the engine maintenance market. Throughout the agreement period, it is projected to contribute an average of USD 700 million annually to Turkey’s export economy.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Technic, commented on the development: “We are pleased to collaborate with Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s leading aircraft engine manufacturers, on this major project. Rolls-Royce’s expertise will play a vital role in enhancing our engine maintenance operations. With our new facility, we will achieve the capacity to deliver comprehensive maintenance services for a wide range of Trent engines and meet the evolving needs of the sector. This facility, which will become the largest authorized Rolls-Royce maintenance center in Europe, will not only strengthen our leading position in the aircraft maintenance and repair industry but also significantly contribute to our country’s export goals.”

Rob Watson, President of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, said: “We are set to significantly expand our global MRO capacity by 2030, and this agreement marks a major milestone on that journey. To deliver high-quality service to our TotalCare customers worldwide, we are adding Turkish Technic to our global network of capable, flexible, and resilient maintenance centers. This facility, which will also serve Turkish Airlines’ Airbus A350 fleet, will further reinforce our strong partnership. The agreement reflects our confidence in Turkish Technic’s ambition to become one of the world’s leading civil aviation engine maintenance centers. In April 2024, Rolls-Royce reaffirmed its commitment to Turkey, and several potential initiatives were explored. Today’s agreement is a testament to that commitment. We are pleased to welcome Turkish Technic to our Trent engine maintenance network.”
Leveraging Turkey’s unique geostrategic location—which has connected continents, cultures, and trade since ancient times—this new initiative aligns with broader efforts to advance innovation and economic cooperation in aviation. It also stands as a successful model of the strategic partnership between Turkey and the United Kingdom.
