Turkish Airlines Issues Statement on Fatal Workplace Accident at THY Technic

A tragic incident occurred at the Sabiha Gökçen Airport technical facilities. Yusuf Altun, a long-serving technician at Turkish Technic (THY Technic Inc.), was seriously injured while conducting landing gear inspection and maintenance inside the aircraft hangar.

He received immediate first aid from the on-site emergency response team before being transported by ambulance to the hospital. Despite all medical efforts, he could not be saved.

Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President of Media Relations, Yahya Üstün, confirmed the loss in an official statement: “This morning, a workplace accident took place at the Landing Gear Workshop of our subsidiary, THY Technic Inc., located at the Sabiha Gökçen facilities. Our colleague, Yusuf Altun, who had served in our company for many years as a technician, was swiftly taken to the hospital following the incident but, despite all interventions, sadly passed away. We extend our condolences to his family, loved ones, and all our colleagues. A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched. This is shared with the public for their information.”
