Turkey to Receive Its First Eurofighter Typhoon in February

Turkey is preparing to take delivery of its first Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet at the end of February. This delivery will mark the first new-type fighter aircraft to enter the Turkish Air Force inventory in decades.

The first aircraft will be one of 12 Typhoons to be transferred from the Qatar Air Force inventory and will be used for testing, pilot training, and operational evaluation purposes. It is reported that the training process for Turkish pilots and technical personnel has already begun.

In addition to the aircraft coming from Qatar, Turkey will also procure newly built Eurofighters. Under an agreement worth approximately £8 billion signed with the United Kingdom in October 2025, 20 new Typhoons, along with training packages, spare parts, and MBDA munitions (Meteor and Brimstone), are included. These aircraft are planned to be delivered around 2030.

In addition, Turkey is reportedly considering the acquisition of around 12 second-hand Eurofighters from Oman. With this, the total Eurofighter fleet is expected to reach 44 aircraft.

Due to the aircraft being sourced from three different countries, the Turkish Air Force inventory will include different modernization levels: P2E, P3E, and the most advanced P4E configurations. The newly delivered aircraft are expected to be equipped with the AESA ECRS Mk2 radar.
