TSB Issues New Update On CRJ-900 Runway Contact In Toronto

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has released a new update dated 17 February 2025 regarding the Endeavor Air CRJ-900 runway contact occurrence at Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International Airport. The aircraft was removed from the accident site and transferred to a hangar at CYYZ for detailed examination. The right wing, landing gear, and several structural components were sent to the TSB’s Engineering Laboratory in Ottawa for further testing. Metallurgical examinations of the fracture surfaces on the wing and landing gear have been completed, while detailed analysis remains ongoing.

Data from all onboard recording systems (including the flight data recorder, quick access recorder, cockpit voice recorder, enhanced ground proximity warning system, and other electronic systems) have been downloaded and analyzed. In addition, recorded data from several previous flights of the aircraft were reviewed and compared with the occurrence flight. Air traffic system data and airport security camera footage were also examined. Investigators conducted simulator sessions at the operator’s facility to evaluate the approach profile, speeds, and thrust settings, with analysis of those simulations still in progress.
