Trump Says He Was Not Warned About Iran Targeting Gulf States | Evidence Shows He Was

As tensions in the Middle East enter their third week, Iran continues its attacks targeting countries in the Gulf. While strikes against the United Arab Emirates persist, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that these developments were “unexpected.” However, U.S. officials and intelligence sources indicate that Trump had been warned about the possibility of such attacks prior to the conflict.

The death toll in the clashes has reached at least 2,000, while the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy supply, remains largely closed.

Trump described Iran’s attacks on Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait as a surprise, saying, “No one expected this, we were shocked.” However, a U.S. official and two separate sources stated that Trump had been briefed before the operation that a strike on Iran could escalate into a broader regional conflict and potentially make Gulf countries targets. It was also noted that he had been informed in advance about the possibility of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz.
