THY Cancels Heathrow Flights Due to Power Outage Caused by Fire

Turkish Airlines Press Advisor Yahya Üstün announced that all London Heathrow flights scheduled for March 21 have been canceled due to a major fire at a transformer station near the airport, which caused widespread power outages in and around the area.
“Due to a fire near London Heathrow Airport, there are ongoing power cuts affecting the airport and surrounding areas. As a result, Heathrow Airport has suspended all flight operations for today. All of our flights to and from Heathrow scheduled for March 21 have been canceled,” said Üstün.
⚠️ The fire at the transformer station supplying electricity to Heathrow Airport and nearby areas led to the airport being closed until 23:59 local time. Over 1,300 flights were either canceled or diverted to other airports.
British Airways flights from Istanbul and Sabiha Gökçen were also among the canceled services.
